This publication is the outcome of an ongoing research research program and discussions among participants of the 9th International Colloquium on Bioethics, Neuroethics, and AI Ethics, which brought together researchers, professors, and graduate students in philosophy, bioethics, medicine, legal sciences, neuroscience, computer science, social sciences, and humanities from across Brazil, from April 25th to 30th, 2025, in the Auditorium of Building 40 at the Pontifical Catholic University (PUCRS) in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Besides the 12 seminal pieces by the conference speakers, the volume also contains an original contribution by one of Brazil’s Fulbright Chairs Professor Dr. Christine J. Cuomo, Professor of Philosophy and Women’s Studies at the University of Georgia, and member of the Environmental Ethics Certificate Program, the Institute for African-American Studies, the Institute for Native American Studies, and the UGA Initiative for Climate and Society at the same institution. Professor Cuomo was the Keynote Speaker for the Sustainability Colloquium held at PUCRS on 11-14 November 2025.
